When my husband, Joseph Augustine Sheehan and I were contemplating how we would fill our “empty nest” years, Joe suggested we track down my 1771 Choyce will. My father had asked me to do that one day, and Joe said, ”the day has come.”
Little did we know then that our search, research, correspondence and visits for family history would last 23 years and expand across five continents.
There are over 350 family photographs and documents, most of which have come from the families they portray. You will find birth, marriage and death records; extracts from wills and probate records; suggestions for further research; and cousins of whom you knew nothing.
Whoever said “we are a small family” was wrong. Incidentally, our research has determined that the surnames Choice and Choyce are the same, merely spelled differently. This book is geared towards the person who has no knowledge of family genealogy but it is written with the intention of helping to develop that interest. There is also a bibliography for those who whish to go into further research.
Because of the constraints of this web site, a limited number of selected pages, taken from The Choice/Choyce Compendium, will be presented here. However, the web pages will be changed frequently to offer you a different selection of pages. We’ll try to include documents, photographs and family charts.
