In October
of 1990, Jess reported that she had had two
more major operations, and had nurses in every
day. In her letter of 5 May 1991, Jess said
she was feeling much better in spite of the
fact she had yet another major operation,
and a session with chemotherapy, which she
could not tolerate. In that letter, she said,
"I now feel very fit and I've even returned
to family history though not the Choyces at
present." She said she was to return
for a reevaluation in two months and was quite
optimistic about her prognosis. She was still
making plans, We hope to go to New Zealand
again in September."
Because Jessie's latest letter had ended on
such a "high" note, I was completely
unprepared when Alec wrote to tell me that
Freda Jessie (Holness) Moretti, died 26 Sep
1991, at Loughborough. |
Jessie will be greatly missed by many, many people.
I feel proud to have known her. Her family and relatives
are indebted to her for the efforts she expended
in their behalf on this genealogy project, and this
is only the Choyce line.
Alec says that Ruth and he have joined forces
and they will continue with Jessie's research,
on all her family lines. They are willing to correspond
with any interested family researchers.
There are many ways in which Jessie's memory
will be preserved. This book is merely one of
them.
